Proyecto realizado de la mano de Laura Lozano.

 

De convento a escuela, a armería, a bodega para terminar en el abandono. Este es el resultado de uno de los edificios más emblemáticos de la Matuna y Getsemaní, barrios en el que reinaba la dicotomía entre la religión y la prostitución. 

El proyecto busca devolverle la vida a esta edificación sin que se pierdan los rastros que la historia ha plasmado en sus muros.

Se concibió la posibilidad de mantener la ruina de ciertos espacios como nueva estética adoptando una funcionalidad museal. 

Se determinó los tipos de deterioro, el valor y la posible intervención a nivel de restauración.

Finalmente se determinó establecer funciones comerciales en plano terreno, y diversas funciones a nivel terciario hacia la Calle de la Media Luna y semi-residenciales hacia el centro de manzana y la calle de San Andrés.

From a convent, to a school, to an armory, to finally end in ruins and abandoned. This was the result of one of the most remarkable buildings of La Matuna and Getsemaní, neighborhoods where its was very present the dichotomy between the Spanish church and the brothels.  

The project aims to give life back to this building without losing on the way all the marks and history inside its walls.

It was conceived the possibility to keep some parts of the building in ruins to keep the “beauty of the ruins” adding some sort of museum function.

The restoration process started by determining the types of deterioration of it’s elements, its value and the ways to either restore it or transform it.

Finally, we stablished a commercial use on the ground floors and a tertiary function on the wing closest to the Media Luna street and a semi-residential use towards the center of the block and the San Andrés Street.
